چکیده

The textile industry is one of the industries that generate a high volume of waste water. Approximately 10, 000 different dyes and pigments are manufactured worldwide with a total annual market of more than 7×10 metric tones per year (Ahluwalia and Goyal, 2007). In India textile is one of the oldest establishments with nearly 1569 large cotton textiles industries, which gives employment to nearly thirty million people (Garg et al., 2012). India is the second largest exporter of dyestuffs, where ~ 80,000 tons of dyes and pigments are produced annually (Saraswathi and Balakumar, 2012). There are over 100, 000 verities of dyes such as acidic, basic, reactive azo dyes etc available in the market (Daneshwar et al., 2007). The textile dye effluent consists of heavy metals such as Cadmium, Lead and Zinc either in free ionic metals or complex metals, (Hill et al., 1993). This textile dye effluents cause serious environmental problems by absorbing light in receiving water bodies like streams, rivers and lakes etc and ultimately interfering with aquatic biological processes (Moore and Ramamoorthy, 1984). Isolation and characterization of dye degrading bacteria from textile dye effluents

Textile dye industry waste is one of the most serious problems in the environment. The dye wastes are severely deleterious to surface water bodies. The present study was an attempt for the assessment of different physicochemical parameters such as pH, temperature, Electrical Conductivity (EC), Total Solids (TS), Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Dissolved Oxygen (DO), ...

Decolourisation of reactive textile dye effluent by using Bacterial strain

The study was investigated the decolorization potentials of certan selected microbial species (bacterial) to an actual textile dyeing industry effluent. All the microbes tested namely (bacterial) Bacillus sp, pseudomonas sp, Acineto bacter, Legionella and Staphylococcus (bacterial) showed greater potential in decolorizing the dye effluent. Bacterial decolorization of textile effluents were crit...

Optimization of significant factors on the microbial decolorization of azo dye in an aqueous medium by Design of Experiments

Currently, the reduction of reactive dyes present in the textile effluent is a big challenge due to the threat to the environment. Existing physical and chemical methods contains many drawbacks. In the present scenario microbial reduction pays much attention and current focus of research. Therefore, the present study isolated dye decolorizing bacterium Exiguiobacterium aurantiacum (TSL7) from a...

Bioremediation of lead by lead-resistant microorganisms, isolated from industrial sample

Lead contamination in water is a widespread problem throughout the world and results from industrial use and processing of lead ore. Bio-availability of lead can be hazardous for children and causes mental retardation. The use of lead free petrol is one measure to check this pollution, but this heavy metal is also present in industrial effluents and need to be removed before these effluents are...
